Time for a poll!

So here's the thing. This year is getting ungodly expensive. We're looking at probably tens of thousands of dollars in expenses, mostly to fix things in this house we just bought two years ago, but also pretty much everybloodywhere else. Medical, car, veterinary, replacing a laptop, preschool, insurance rates going up -- you name it, it's all pretty much coming down on us at once.

Here's the other thing. I've been told many times that if I really wanted to, I could probably make a tidy heap of money holding an internet bake sale. Those of you who've gotten boxes of cookies from me for birthdays/holidays, or attended any of the con parties I've brought them to, might agree. Maybe not. You tell me! I also have a couple of new stories I haven't really had time to try and circulate, and a pile of author copies of my books, etc.

These two items are related.

If you do do a bake sale, do make sure to charge enough to cover your ingredients and labor!

*nodnod* I think the hardest part will be figuring out how much the bloody things actually cost to make and then taking a wild guess as to what I could charge on top of that for labor. Complicated!

A Poem A Day?
Okay, how about, instead of fiction, a tip jarred poem a day for 30 days, which will culminate in a sellable book?

Following on the poem a day suggestion, what about a poem on commission for anyone who wants to give you a prompt and a set fee? You could post it here or on your site with a note saying who it was for. Or, for that matter, you could send them a private copy and publish it through one of the likely suspects.

I would love to have stories, too, but I think food always goes over the best.
